My name is Myia Oasis , I am 23 years old and have been in the Plus Industry for a little over 4 years. At first being a plus model was very tough because I wasn't fully comfortable in my own skin; being called plus size, I felt labeled. From my perspective, calling me a model should be enough. When I began, I was stopped in a store and asked to walk in a fashion show. At that time, I’d never thought about modeling or walking the runway. However, being brave and being one of the youngest plus models in Atlanta, Ga helped me to overcome my fears and insecurities.
My journey has been nothing short of amazing. I've booked music videos this past year as well as landed a spot as the video model for a well-known artist. So, this goes to show that the sky is the limit. Don't give up. You are good enough.
In addition to modeling, I am in school for Journalism/Communications and someday will be the owner of a Publishing Company. Although writing is my first passion, I am also a radio personality. My motto is to never place limits on myself, believe in yourself and never giving up will take you far.
My name is Tatyana , I'm a 23 year old graduate student in a Counseling Psychology program. I am infatuated with love, so I plan on getting my license in family and couple's counseling. I have participated in several runway shows, fashion photo shoots, and I'm looking to gain a lot more experience and exposure. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, watching hair and makeup tutorials, and am a huge astrology geek. Wanting to be a part of Plussizemeplz was a no brainer for me because I saw all of the amazing things that the brand was doing in Philadelphia. There are so many events for curvy girls to attend in cities all over the country and here is something in our own backyard. Going to the Swim Soiree this past summer was so inspiring that I had to be involved. Seeing all the confident and beautiful women in their bathing suits felt like I was right at home. Growing up, I had such an issue with my self-esteem. When watching television, I’d never see anyone who looked like me, so I began to believe that I was abnormal. I had to start from the ground up to build my own confidence until it became a part of me. I started to wear what made me feel confident and sexy and stopped caring about what people may say. I felt free for the first time and I felt amazing. I believe that if women start to see more people in media who may look like them, then they can begin to see the beauty within themselves.
I would love to inspire women to have confidence in their body no matter the size and to learn to be their own "body goals".
My Name is Dominique , I can be described using many different adjectives, however I have grown to love being referred to as bubbly. Bubbly simply means energetic, loving and positive. So if you ever encounter me me in or around Philadelphia or engage with me on social media, please connect so that we can share the love!
My personality is what makes me successful as a social services Professional; serving youth and women for over 10 years. Currently, I work as a Foster Parent Recruiter on a Community Engagement team that services North Central Philadelphia. I am a proud graduate of Lincoln University, The First HBCU.
In 2014, I became the founder of Horizon Youth Experience, a community youth organization that focuses on creating positive life experiences for youth through activities and team building exercises. I use modeling, dance and event planning to teach and enhance their life skills. Every girl is taught to be their own version of beautiful.
Throughout my adult life, I have encouraged people to boldly chase after the dreams that they've previously been afraid of. Last September, I realized my dream of being coming a model was unrealized, because I was afraid of the good and bad possibilities. How can I tell others to chase after their dreams if I wasn't willing to do it myself? As of November 2016, I began my journey of becoming a petite plus size model. My mission is to normalize petite plus size modeling, so we can see ourselves represented in the modeling industry
